Antwerp Queer Arts Festival 2017 brengt Asia-Pacific shorts

Het Roze Huis werkt deze zomer opnieuw samen met Cinema Cartoon's tijdens het Antwerp Queer Arts Festival. Je kan er onder meer gaan kijken naar een selectie Asia-Pacific shorts.

Deze collectie van kortfilms toont het beste van de nieuwe queer cinema uit Azië. Geconfronteerd met fantoomerecties, corrupte politieagenten, hartzeer en geïnstitutionaliseerde homofobie, vinden de karakters uit dit kleurrijke assortiment van films een toevluchtsoord bij hun vrienden en familie, in hun activisme en in dromen. In samenwerking met de Asia-Pacific Queer Film Festival Alliance.

This collection of short films showcases the best in new queer Asian cinema. Confronted with phantom erections, corrupt cops, heartaches and institutionalized homophobia, the queer characters in this colorful assortment of films find refuge with their friends and family, in activism and in dreams. Curated in cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Queer Film Festival Alliance.

Alindanaw (a butterfly that keeps on flying) is a silent film about the journey of an Alien in search of its identity and a safe haven. The film explores the parallelism between a butterfly, an alien and a transgender.

Phantom Jenny

Mito, who is MtF trans, comes back home after having gender confirmation surgery in Thailand. As she inserts a dilator into her newly-built vagina, she finds herself having a feeling of phantom penis erection. Mito keeps this secret to herself until one day she tells it to her FtM trans roommate, Shiro. Shiro tries to help Mito solve her erection problem in the most intimate way.
